The Clock Tower:
Between 1587 and 1830, the Ottomans built clock towers in Bosnia and Herzegovina so that everybody may know the time and know when it’s time for prayer (namaz). The clock tower in Jajce is not typical in comparison with other towers built at the same time. This tower was built between 1396 and 1416 in the reign of Hrvoje Vukčić Hrvatinić in order to be used as Kapikule or watchtower. It was simultaneously one of the doors of the fortress. The Ottomans converted it into clock tower because its dominant position was ideal for this.
